Arabic-speaking Assistant Director


We are looking for an Arabic-speaking Assistant Director for Station House Opera’s digital performance project, At Home in Gaza and London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary collaborative team who have been developing techniques for bringing the two cities and its artists and audiences together by using simple technologies in innovative ways. It is a flexible role that includes live translating and subtitling, assisting with documentation and scheduling, communicating and liaising between the teams, and taking part in the creative process. Rehearsals are in London and run from April 30th-May 26th, and June 18-27th. Performances are at the Battersea Arts Centre from June 28-July 1st before going to Liverpool July 7-10th.



-Fluency in English & Arabic (spoken & written)

-Ability to translate live from Levantine (Palestinian) Arabic during rehearsals

-Demonstrate a creative interest and genuine commitment to the project

-Be highly organised and collaborative

-Excellent communication skills

-Ability to work under pressure

-Willingness and openness to take part in the work



-Relevant experience in the arts
